Our Georgia

January 2, 2016 - September 27th, 2022 This page is dedicated to our beloved friend, Georgia. She is in Heaven now, probably chasing Molly or visa versa. Or they are chasing rabbits, balls or other things.

Deb and I had to make the extremely difficult decision once again to put another one of our beloved companions, Georgia, to sleep. This is the fourth pet we've had to put to sleep due to their health reasons. Georgia contracted bone cancer in her front right leg and had been in terrible pain for a few months. We took her to the vet to be put to sleep on Tuesday, September 27th, 2022. Unfortunately Georgia's leg was getting worse since the bone cancer was eating away at the bone and there was a possibility the bone could break on her and we were afraid she could fall and break her neck or some other painful event that we didn't want her to experience. Georgia was our first and only Great Dane. Deb said she always wanted a Great Dane. She bragged about getting me drunk enough one night to get me to agree to get a Great Dane. We adopted Georgia from a breeder in northwest Dayton area and we loved Georgia from day one. Georgia was the last one of her siblings to be adopted and we were the lucky ones given the priviledge to take care of her the rest of her life. She was an extremely gentle and kind girl and she loved everyone. She always loved our back yard in The Country Path subdivision south of the Dayton Mall. She liked jumping up and down like a kangaroo so she could see the neighbors over the six foot tall shadow box fence we had put up. She would also stand up and put her front paws on the shorter section of the fence by the gate up next to the house so she could look over to see the people and dogs walking down the sidewalk next to us. She was definitely skittish as most Great Danes are, but she liked picking on Molly, which Molly didn't like. Georgia was just trying to get Molly to play, but Molly wouldn't have any part of playing with Georgia. Bella always got in between Georgia and Molly to keep them from fighting. Georgia loved playing with the laser light. We would sit outside at night and she would chase the light all over the yard. We had her cremated and brought her remains home and placed them with Molly's, Reggie's, and Suzie's. At least that way they will always be with us and be together. There will never be another Georgia, just like there will never be another Molly, Reggie, or Suzie. May they rest in peace and play at the Rainbow Bridge until we meet them again. We told Bella that she is not allowed to get sick since she will be our last pet. We want her to live a long time with us, so she has to stay healthy, so she can last most of the rest of our lives with us before she gets sick and passes away.
